Nowadays, USB 3.0 is the most common port in today’s computers, while not all USB-C devices are created equal. Therefore, as the number of external devices on the computer increases, many manufacturers provide an integrated USB 3.0 driver - a USB hub.
Many users may come to find some problems when first using the USB C hub, the most common problem is like: The computer cannot recognize the USB hub or the USB hub is not detected at all. For this phenomenon, many users don't know how to solve this problem, so what should we do if the computer cannot recognize the USB hub?
For those who are new to the USB C hub, we listed out some common problems and the solutions to them, to help you get a better user experience.

Q: I purchased a hub, but my hub cannot be recognized by my computer. Is the hub damaged?
A: If the hub cannot be recognized, please don't worry. All Utechsmart USB hubs have undergone multiple inspections before shipment. And all packages of them are complete. We believe that your hub will not be easily damaged.

Q: My Windows system doesn't detect the existence of a USB hub at all, what should I do?
A: When your computer doesn't recognize the USB hub, please don't worry, you first try the following operations to make the computer recognize the hub.

Solution
(1) You can check whether it can work normally by testing it on other computers.

(2) By restarting the computer, you need to completely shut down the computer, unplug the power adapter from the host, or remove the battery from the laptop. Wait 1 minute, and then restart the computer.
(Note: Before restarting the PC, please make sure to save the opened web pages and add bookmarks, all open documents, spreadsheets, or other unsaved work.)

Hub Still cannot Be Recognized
Q: I have tried using the hub to test on other computers and restarted the computer, but it still doesn't work.
A: The computer still cannot detect the hub. It may be caused by the following two reasons:
 • Port failure
 • Driver failure

Q: Port failure?
A: Yes. Over time, the connectors or ports of the computer may become damaged or dirty.

Please carefully check the computer's USB port and a USB connector for any physical damage. Or you can try to connect the USB hub to another port of the computer; especially when using a PC, it is recommended to use the rear USB 3.0 port integrated into the motherboard.
If the port or connector is dirty, use a spray gun to blow away the dust. Do not try any type of wet cleaning solution, including water or a damp cloth.

Q: I have checked that the USB port and USB connector of the computer is clean and there is no physical damage. Is it possible that the driver is faulty?
A: Yes. Through investigation, it is confirmed that the ports are clean, but no hubs are detected on all ports. Please consider the next possibility: driver failure. This is also the greatest possibility that the hub cannot be recognized by the computer.

The USB 3.0 driver provided by the computer manufacturer may be out of date or incorrectly installed. You need to complete the following:
1. Reinstall the Damaged USB Driver in the Device Manager
If an error message pops up, you should find a yellow question mark or exclamation mark in the device manager.
*To open the Device Manager, press the Windows logo + R key on the keyboard, and type devmgmt.msc in the Run dialog box, and then press Enter.

Expand the "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" list, plug in the USB hub, and delete it again. In this way, you will find entries related to the USB hub. Right-click the entry and select "Uninstall". Follow the prompts to remove the driver. After that, please restart your computer.

2. Completely Refresh All USB Drivers
If there is no error message or the computer does not detect the USB hub at all. All you have to do now is to uninstall all USB device drivers step by step, refer to step 1.
In addition, please uncheck the "Allow the computer to turn off the device to save power" under "Power Management".

(Note: After uninstalling the USB root hub or USB host controller, your USB keyboard and mouse will stop responding. Press and hold the power button for 20 seconds to manually force shutdown.)
After restarting the computer, Windows will automatically install the driver immediately.

Get Support
Q: If I do the above operations, my hub still cannot be resolved by the hub?
A: If you finish the above troubleshooting and find that the problem still cannot be solved, you need to seek additional help.

1. Update the System Setup Program (BIOS) and Chipset Driver
The BIOS and chipset drivers must be updated to obtain the best USB performance and resolve common USB-related issues.
If you are using a computer with Intel CPU, it is recommended to use Intel®Driver&Support Assistant. Updating the chipset driver is easy and useful.
You may need to visit the computer manufacturer's website and seek help with updating the BIOS. Here are some websites that may be helpful: Asus, Dell, HP, Lenovo, and Apple.

2. Try to Troubleshoot Computer Hardware
Every computer class has a built-in hardware troubleshooting program that can easily find and fix any problems that may affect your PC.

On the computer, type "troubleshooter" in the Windows "Start Search" box to start the hardware troubleshooter.

3. Hub Failure
